Dear Students,

Even though many of you are not on campus this summer, we are thinking of you, particularly in light of the recent ruling in Texas regarding the legality of DACA. This ruling is deeply alarming and makes it imperative for us to reassure you that our support for all of you is unwavering. We refuse to sit by while decisions like this one are made. Colorado State University and the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System have joined the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, a coalition of more than 500 university presidents and chancellors who support policies that create a welcoming environment for immigrant, undocumented and international students on our campuses.

Last Friday, immediately following the announcement of the Texas ruling, the PAHEI called on Congress to “act in a bipartisan manner to provide a roadmap to citizenship for Dreamers. If Congress cannot move forward in a bipartisan manner, then we call on Congress to enact a roadmap to citizenship through all available mechanisms–including budget reconciliation.”

You are all so important to us—to CSU and to our larger communities.  We will continue to advocate for you and to offer you all the support and resources we can to help you succeed.  And I look forward to seeing you on campus this fall.

Warmly,

Joyce
